Year round bowhunting
« on: February 13, 2010, 02:46:00 PM »
I usually hunt about 9 months out of the year or so if you count a few winter or spring months where I get a hog hunt in  one weekend each month.

This year I am committed to hunting yotes and bobcats till turkey season and then hogs and yotes until deer/ bear/ opens.

Anyone else pretty much hunt all year?  I was able to combine skill, luck, and right place at the right time to get a deer in Dec and a javelina in Jan.  Figure why stop there...
Give me a bow a topo and two weeks, and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

Are you hunting all this in your home state? If so you are lucky to have all that game in one state.

I got to admit hunting year round for big game would be nice! However here in IL it's not to bad Squirels from August to mid February, 3 1/2 months of white tails, fall/winter bunnies, pheasants, and qual, winter coyotes, spring turkeys, with summer frogs, ground hogs and bow fishing tossed in we get plenty of time to fling arrows at critters!

Now with that being said I sure don't hunt enough! And I have to admit I'm a little jealous of you guys who can hunt hogs localy!

Most is locally.

California is home to fruits and nuts, but also hogs, bears, blacktail and mule deer, three kinds of elk, sheep, pronghorn, bobcats, yotes, foxes, and so on.

I am going to try and ground check all five species of deer this year, given AK in August starts it off with Sitka blacktail, though I can start hunting local deer in July I may get another tag so I can hunt later.

I have a buddy that is a predator killing machine with his bow.  I am hoping we can get together before bobcat is over this month.

I wish we had tree squirrels though, the ground ones are known carriers of the plague and that is one critter even this redneck from Georgia won't eat.
