I will be sending a MA II back to Black Widow to be brought back to its original state (minor cosmetics) before I sell it.  It has always felt a little too long for me at 62".  When I get it back, I'll be looking for a longbow at either 58 or 60.

Longbows are QUIET, lightweight graceful and deadly...!  Love them and love them well.

Hair color??  Remember a lot of the time the carpet does NOT match the curtains...  LOL

Listen to Mudd. He's telling you the truth. I thought, who needs a longbow when I've got a really decent Kmag. Well, I picked up his Spirit bow & shot it at camp. Two weeks later I traded for a Montana. Then A Black Swan.It was66ins. & taller than I am. Traded it for a 58in. Thunder Stick Mag. I've found my place. When Mudd tells you not to shoot a longbow, believe him! I really & truly am very happy with a longbow. No quiver to mess up the balance. So light in your hand you don't even realize it's there till your ready to shoot.

I agree, once I shot a longbow I dont care for the recurve much, I do have 2 recurves though, one is a static tip recurve and that shoots more like a longbow. The other is a 62 bear polar, just have a soft spot for the old bears.

I'll take both, thank you.  A longbow is no more traditional than a recurve, especially if you use the word traditional in its proper context.
Both are great bows, but frankly there is little difference in how they shoot anymore with new def/ref designs and smooth drawing hybrids.  

Shoot what makes you happy but don't starve yourself of either.  I like both....did I say that?

I too started with a recurve had lots of fun, just seemed something was missing. Something about a "D" shaped longbow that has a lot of deep meaning. After shooting my longbow last year's hunting season, I picked up my recurve and shot her, she doesen't feel right anymore.

I am the anomaly here... I started on recurve, moved to compound, went to a longbow and now basically shoot recurves... BUT, if I had extra $$, I'd get Black Widow longbow, Martin Savannah (I really like the look of those!), or maybe the Bear Patriot    

I should also add that my PSR III has a 'Longbow" grip/riser/window and recurve limbs... don't know what that means but it shoots better than most other recurves I have put my hands on.

They are just fun to shoot. I personally shoot both longbows and recurves and like them both.

For me it's a matter of mass. After shooting Hill bows for a while, large-riser recurves feel like clubs to me. I've shot some 50s style recurves that seemed to combine the best of both worlds, but figured that would complicate life too much.

I like to believe in the forgiveness factor of straight-limbed longbows espoused by manufacturers of straight-limbed longbows, but it might be purely psychological.
