Anyone in the know, can you tape up the sides of the limbs to camo dip just the back and belly of the limb?  Will the dip still be durable with the exposed edges?  I'm thinking about the look of the Silvertips with the camo "veneers".  Thanks...Mike

I would ask them directly they,I would think it would hold up.I mean when they dip rifle scopes they must just cover the lens so they don't get covered up.

Actually, when they dip riflescopes or any other optics, they fully strip them down to a bare tube so that there are still no exposed edges to the film.
I think tat if you have an exposed edge, moisture 'can' get under the film & lift it off. I once had a dipped rifle (many years ago) air that I scratched up pretty badly. As soon as it got wet I noticed the film started to bubble. Now, whether that was down to the film, the process, or the surface preparation, I couldn't say.

Give them a call & get it straight from the horses mouth.

I like the idea of "veneers" also, rather than a full dip covering everything.

I just saw some limbs posted for sale somewhere done like that (edges, tips, butt overlays) still "natural".

But Rob brings up a good point on durability.

That being said.  I know several wheel bows (Hoyt) leave there limb edges exposed.  So they must have faith or have a process that works.

I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone knows more.

Good luck!

You can tape off any part of the bow and dip whatever part you want.

Yes, you can mask off any part that you don't want dipped. The clear coat will go over the whole thing so you don't have to worry about any edge coming loose.
