Single Bevel 3 blade broadheads?
« on: February 25, 2010, 05:24:00 PM »
Does anyone make one? I think it would be better than regular broadheads. What do you guys think?

Nobody makes one that I know of...no reason to as I see it.

Why do you think it would it be "better"?

Ya never heard of anyone making one.  Seems it would kinda counter-act the effect of the single bevel.

I'd like to know how you would sharpen it? Just can not picture it!

Never heard of them... I would think they would be a real pain to sharpen due to the angle of the blades?

Dont know how you would sharpen it. Just thought of it looking at some 3 blade broadheads.

I have probably a doz.  They're made by MA-3 and fit a special brand of carbon shaft.  THe brand was 3 letters like AFC or CFA.  The arrow fit right into the broadhead, so there was no need for an insert.  I couldn't get 'em sharp, but I don't mess with two bladed single bevels, because I can't get them sharp.

I can't picture how it would be an improvement, in fact, what I can imagine is that third blade inhibiting the bone splitting torque. Picture trying to split a log with an object that essentially has three planes and I think you'll see what I'm talking about.

Read Dr. Ashby's research on this site on the penetration of different broadheads including three blades.
