It might be that the end is pinched in from the tubing cutter.I haven't used the tubing cutter on aluminum so I don't know if there are any tricks to it.Someone should chime in.

Thats it. Run the point of your pocketknife around in there for a sec and root the lip off, then it will fit.

Sometimes I use a fine round file to gently file off the lip left from the tubing cutter.  Also, go easy with the tubing cutter to prevent pinching the shaft and leaving it out of round.

Do they fit in the original end that you cut off? If they do the arrow is pinched , if they do not you most likely have the wrong size insert. I have pinched them useing the tubing cutter and it just took a small round file to take care of problem.

Good luck MARK

I use a tubing cutter on my 2016s as well.  Too much pressure will cause them to close ever so slightly.  When that happens to me I just hold the shaft opening over a candle for about 30 seconds.  Get the insert started and press the arrow/ insert straight down on a table top.

You can use a little countersink tool, too.

I use a deburring tool for alums and an ASD (arrow squaring device) for my carbons. Both tools work great and make your inserts fit very nice.

If you have a buddy who reloads ammo, get use of his deburring tool for a few minutes.

I use an arrow cut-off saw and recently had a package of inserts that did not fit, even after deburring.  Had a few inserts of another brand laying around (need to tidy up my bench)and they fit fine.  I suspect the package I bought is not marked properly.

You should be able to get a deburring tool at any sporting goods store that sells reloading equipment. It is the same one re-loaders use to deburr their cartridges.

I always used an old 3 blade Snuffer to de-burr.

Fish, everyone is right about the bur. You may have deformed the shaft some also. If you have a "Good" tubing cutter, it will have a triangle shape knife, deburring tool in the handle.

I have used round file, diamond hone rod and such. You don't need to buy a tool, if you have a metal file for sharpening broadheads, it will work perfect! Just insert, the metal handle into the shaft and ream the tube! Also when you heat it up some the aluminum will expand some.

Tube cutters work great, just remember to go slow and tighten the wheels a little bit at a turn.
