snake skin
« on: March 08, 2010, 03:11:00 PM »
I'm putting diamond back rattler skins on my BW this week.  I've always used wood glue BUT read somewhere that  barg cement is the way to go.  Any opinions..

Wood glue is the most forgiving way to go. I'm sure Barge would work fine but if you don't get the skin laid down straight or you have bubbles or wrinkles in the skin you are stuck(literally) with it. Once the 2 glue surfaces meet they are stuck.
With TBIII you get to position the skins and remove excess glue, air and wrinkles for 30 minutes or more after laying down the skins.
Make the most of all that comes and the least of all that goes!

Joe,
I agree with Pat. I'm doing My SAII this week also with diamond backs. Glued first limb last night with TBIII and plan on doing the second one tonite.
Good luck and let us see some pics when your done.

I used contact cement like you use on formica countertops......I like it but you have to get it started straight because once the two pieces touch............your stuck with it so to speak.
