I am considering buying the martin jaguar for my first recurve bow. i don't want to spend a ton of money on something i may not enjoy.
is the jaguar a good choice for a beginner? i want this bow primarily for this seasons deer hunt in ontario.
thanks guys, Phil.

I been looking at them, too. I got told that the quality wasn't the greatest, but shoots ok. I was also told Samick would be a nice option.
If you haven't ever shot a traditional bow, you have a LOT of practicing to do if you plan to hunt deer this year with it.

If you have to buy new its good for the price. No need to buy new though when you can get an awesome used bow here on the classifieds. I've gotten 3 bows here, the most expensive was an almost new Martin Hunter for $275. Shoots great and is over $500 new.

I would go with a Samick or if spending a little more a Quinn. The Jaguar is cheap but there have been many issues with them. You can do better for your money and I think be a lot happier in the end.jmo

I would buy used, and remember not to buy one that is too heavy of draw. I am a good sized man and started with 62#, and had little issues for the first 20 shots or so. I enjoyed shooting too much to lay it down when I got tired and developed some shoulder issues. I now shoot nothing over 52# and most are around 48#. I can shoot all day and have become a much better shot.

Lots of good deals in the classifieds, You can probably get something of better quality for about the same price as a new jaguar after you add in the accessories.

Thanks guys, i'm probably going to go for something between 50-55#.
i currently shoot a longbow, so i have a little experience shooting trad bows.
i'll have a look at the classifieds, but if there is anybody else who has, or has shot a jaguar, i'd appreciate any info.
thanks, Phil
