Group Buy Interest
« on: March 11, 2010, 10:57:00 PM »
I used to be big into tactical rifles and matches.  On one of the main sites i visited they would take one of there sponsors (a different one every year)  and do a reduced rate group buy A Trad Gang edition in this case bow.  Now we would have to work with the bowyer let him pick woods the only thing individualized would be something like weight and tiller.  It would be a good way to get the sponsors some extra business as well as cut us some slack.  Do not no if this has been covered before if it has I am sorry tried to search it didn't come up with much.Like to here what some of you guys think about this.

Hi Longbow, I go to a couple shooting forums and have also benefited from the group buy thing.  I'm currently on a group buy at castboolits for a 9.3 bullet mold...

As for archery related stuff, might be a little harder to swing.  Bows being the individual things they are, most guys want to personalize them but I could see something like a Tradgang Limited Edition of "Bow ______" being something that a lot of guys might be interested in.  Maybe something easier might be a group buy on broadheads where the "group" might buy say a hundred or more heads and get a slight discount or maybe have some bow cases with the trad gang logo on them.  Problem is, the use of the logo would be up to the site and they might prefer to offer a line of merchandise themselves rather than allow their name to be put on a private run of stuff.  Of course, if you could get Black Widow or ACS or somebody like that to do a limited run of almost any bow even without the tradgang logo I bet you'd get some takers.

I bet there's a way to do something though.
Dave

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

Sounds like something a lot of us would be into. Maybe one of the knife makers would do a run of matching knives or something like that.

I believe this has been discussed before, I also believe nothing ever became of it....not sure why though...

Probably too many different opinions to make it work. Finding the "right" bowyer will probably be very tuff as well.

"Trad Gang" could only be used with permission

maybe a couple differant bowyers would split a order of materials. We could get two differant styles to choose from with one material purchase. That wouldnt put the entire work load on one guy also.

I would be very interested in this for wood arrow shafting.  If the supplier would allow mixed spins and wood materials they could get a nice order in and reduce cost to all of us.  I'm involved in this with reloading for cowboy handguns and we buy literally "tons" of lead etc...
