Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

I spray a clear coat over my cresting with Minwax poly, but I've never clear coated an entire shaft.

Gene and Barry wensel used to wipe down their shafts with tire dressing or something like that to make the finish slicker.

When I used to crest my carbons I sprayed Minwax® Helmsman® Spar Urethane to protect it.

Now I just use wraps.

I used to use wood arrows aqnd had a dipper full of the old Gasket Lacquer. I found neopreme "plugs" to put in the ends of carbons to dip them.

I just dip them in the gasket lacquer. Slick...stops all the black rubbin off on everygthing. Adds some sheen, but not that much. I reverse, change ends for plugs and do 2x.

Not sure what you are looking to do exactly, but I coat my carbons with Black Magic Tire Wet to slick them down. Also maks them quieter on the arrow rest.
