Where can I find.....
« on: March 15, 2010, 08:20:00 AM »
I picked up some good looking carbon arrows that from what I understand are no longer being made. They are Carbon Express CXL 250's. They measure between.312-.315 ID. These came with insert but I'd like to find some replacement inserts of heavier weights.

I've checked a couple of places, 3 Rivers being the 1st without any luck.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions.
Thank you in advance!

God bless,Mudd

Mudd, just went to the CX website, the CXL is a target shaft and they are a larger dia than the standard 5/16 carbons. I dont know of any heavy inserts for those larger dia shafts.

My ONLY guess would be to talk to Tim Cosgrove at Kustom King. They carry them for AD and Grizzly Stik. They also used to carry a Vapor carbon shaft thet was 21/64 OD and they had brass inserts for them, might still have some around.

Good luck buddy

Mudd...I'd be willing to bet the smaller size aluminum arrow inserts would work just fine for those...it'd be worth a try.  They are bigger than the standard carbons, so you should be able to use a product sized for aluminums...you'll just have to do some trial-and-error to get the right fit.  Doubt you'll find much in the "traditional world" for these shafts though as they were designed for compound 3-D and indoor target competition where the larger diameter is a benefit when a "line cutter" shot counts just the same as a bullseye.

Mudd,
You can add wt by adding Gold Tip wt adapters to the back of the insert.  They come in various wts and are stackable.

You could always have some made if ya want them that bad.I believe there was somebody here making them for alum arrows perhaps they'd be the right size or they can just make up some custom. If it gets right down to it and ya can,t get anyplace PM me and I'll see what I can come up with.Field points come pretty heavy these days and solid steel glue in inserts of 75-125 combined with glue on points give ya pretty much anything ya want.Good luck

Would it matter about the inside diameter size of the shaft as far as these gold tip weights/adapters are concerned?

I thank you for your offer and will accept it if the answer to the 1st question is no.

These are the 1st and only carbons I've gotten. I read 11GPI and thought.. Yeha!!!, that's a heavy arrow and these are the cheapest I've found.lol My brain quit working immediately.. the sad part is,.. it happens to me all the time.I guess I should have done more research.

God bless,Mudd

PS the inside diameter on these is between .312-.315

Mudd,How will the diameter match up to your broadheads and or field points?

Oh and are the inserts the same thread size as your broadheads?
