PCH X
« on: March 19, 2010, 09:55:00 PM »
Just got back from Black Widow.  What a great bunch of people. Ken and Roger spent most of the morning helping me test shoot bows and giving me a few form pointers.  Roger let me shoot his personal PCH X and I couldn't put it down.  I ordered mine in Curly Bubinga.  Oh Happy Day!!   :)

Happy Day indeed!! Wish I lived closer and could tour the plant. I shot Roger's PCH at Bear Camp last year. Great little bow, I have one coming very close to his. Ed

You know, I was just going to look for an old PCH thread I said I would put pictures in.  One of the guys at my club has this Brazilian Rosewood/Tiger Myrtle PCH.  It is 44# @ 28" and it is a lot nicer than the pictures show!

Brazilian Rosewood with Tiger Myrtle PCHX will be headed to Kansas City in about a week (Asbell grip).  Woods were not my first choice, but after looking at a bunch of bows, well, they are now. Mine is 55 at 28".   I am thinking of an other set of limbs, maybe 50 at 28" - Curly Maple?

Mel,

Having viewed a LOT of the vaneers going to the Widow boys from my buddy Mike's shop, I think some of the waterfall Bubinga would look good--real good.  Some figured Osage would set it off just right IMO too.

I am also thinking of Yew - some nasty Yew with quite a bit of character.

Yeah, it shot great!  Just kidding.  The guys were very busy building and my 8 year old son and I were like kids (I guess he is a Kid) in a candy store.

Steve,
I ordered a PCH-X the last week of Feb with Waterfall Bubinga limbs and Brazilian Rosewood and Bamboo riser. No red on the bow at all. I go back next week for the riser block assembly.
The only thing that has worries me is the shorter bow OAL. I shot a short bow in the 70's,  had stack and pinch issue. I have shot 60 to 64 inch since. I shot for 2 hours at BW started with 58" and worked down to 54" NO PROBLEMS. Still makes ya nervous.
