Damon Howatt 62" Hunter & 30" Draw Length
« on: March 21, 2010, 09:27:00 AM »
Just curious. Does anyone own a Damon Howatt (Martin) 62" Hunter recurve with a 30" draw length? If so, do you have an issue with finger pinch? The reason I'm asking is because 35 years ago I once owned a 60" one piece Bear Super Kodiak that gave me a bad case of finger pinch since I draw and hold a few seconds before I release the arrow. I've never liked finger pinch so I sold the Super Kodiak. Damon Howatt says the Hunter will perform well with up to 30" draw lengths. Just wondering if this statement is true or just marketing hype?

I already own two take down recurves, but I'd like to purchase a one piece recurve and the 62" Hunter along with two other bow models are the ones I'm considering.

The 62" Hunter will be very pleasant at your 30" draw. I shot one for years at closer to 31" and loved it.
62" is my preferred recurve length.

I own two Damon Howatt hunters. A 1973 and 1979. Both are 55# @ 28 or 60 @ 30, which is my draw length.

These bows do not stack and do not pinch. 2.5lbs per inch after 28 is about as good as it gets regardless of price or design!

Nice bows.

Damon Howatt now makes a truly custom bow. DH advertises on their home page they can make the poundage at your draw length for a little more money. Click on the link below to see this info.

I might have to call DH Monday to check it out.

Perhaps the older Howatt Hunters wee better than the later Martin Hunters? I bought one new in 2000 and it stacked like a pile of bricks past 28".
