1966 bear super mag 48

heres a picture of a 66' bear super mag 48 i refinished. i picked it up at a local sporting goods store for $50.00,the skins cost me $25.00.i finished it with a exterior satin poly.the grip seemed alittle chunky so i filed finger grooves in it. it's 55#@28.has just alittle light stress on the belly.it shoots great at my 26"draw.lots of life left in this old bow !

real nice job! I picked up a 67 at a garage sale last summer for $30. Still haven't figured out if I want to refinish it or sell it as is. It's not in bad shape, but has the finish cracks that are typical of these bows. They sure do bring a premium on the auction site, but only if they are 69 or older and the black and white version it seems. I haven't seen a refinished one up there yet. It would be interesting to see what yours would bring.

Very nice!  I like how you did the finger grooves, very subtle and not over done.  Skins look great as well.

thanks fella's. it was a labor of love. i have almost as many hours in this refinish as i would in making a BBO or a self wood bow. i'm going to take it out this afternoon and see if i can spook some turkeys with it !

I need to come across a supermag at that price!  I have been looking for one for quite some time now.... no luck yet!  You just fueled the fire to look even more. =)
