Does anyone know where you can buy a ready made Ghillie? I just don't have the patience to make my own.

I got mine at a local gun show brand new with cover hat for 50$. I might be able to find a tag if you want let me know.

If you don't mind that would be great.

www.theghilliesuits.com  is where I got mine.

This is a two piece, synthetic string suit.
I recommend a "long coat" style if you plan on walking/stalking.
These strings hang on EVERYTHING!
Every twig, thorn, or branch will hang you up, especially around the ankles!
It is made like a "reverse" bug suit..it is screen against the body, with netting over that, and the strings are tied to the netting.
Mine is the lightweight version but it is really HOT!

But the camo ability is amazing...I have had birds land on my arrows, possums and armadillos walk across my feet and deer too close to draw on!

Great suits
I second that...give Jerry a call.  He's a great guy that manufactures many great products!

Never owned one but always wanted one.  I'm scared the bowstring would catch on the suit.  Any problems with that?

As far as strings cathing, you'll have to spend some time triming or relcating some of the string on your bow arm and the chest on your bow arm side.

Be sure to test it any differnt positions you may be shooting from.

Have been looking at Ghillies myself for ground sittng/stalking.

Does the leaf style 3D suits sold by Bass Pro compare to the Ghillie in camo effectiveness?

They have much shorter pieces of fabric, so thinking that they won't hang up or interfere with the bow sting as easily?

Several years ago when those fires swept through San Deigo, they burnt Jerry @ Rancho Safari's place to the ground.  He had his manufacturing space on his property and it all burned along with his home.  Because he lived off the beaten path, a ways from the nearest fire department, as a resident in a rural location in the fine state of CA, no insurance company would provide him fire insurance.  Everything was a total loss, out of pocket.  Jerry is a heck of a guy and a trad hunter to boot.  Anything we can do to help him out, we'd be doing a great thing for a guy who has given much to this sport.  And, he does build the BEST Ghillie suit out there, not some crappy synthetic wanna be leaf camo suit!  I found out last year my Ghillie Suit has some post season use also.  Scared the wits out of a bunch of trick or treaters on the front porch of the house.  They had no idea there was a person inside that pile of rags.  Had a few moms levitate!

Bivy,

I applaud your concern and support for a good man and good biz person who lost it all.

I've also tried the burlap suit. Given my allergies, I about died off the dust. When wet, it weighs a ton!

but it does WORK, period.

So does the Ghilliesuit.com outfit. Another great guy with his synthetic string that is light weight, but so compact that as Sendro25 said, it's still hot. Air doesn't circulate through those strings! The Rancho is HOT, too. But the ghilliesuit is light weight to pack in.

They both are good products and good people behind the company.  I wish Jerry the best at recovering his losses. I'm sorry for his losses.

Bivyhunter I did the same thing this past Halloween, I sat on a 5 gallon bucket next to a hedge, the kids and parents would go up the driveway where my wife was sitting giving out candy, when they turned around to leave I would stand up and growl at them,  LOL, they didn't see me when they walked past but I also got some near levitation from them!!

I'm amazed at how well you are hidden wearing these things. I have hunted in my full ghille from RS but not drawn on anything yet. However, the small game "show" going on around my feet was incredible. Don't get winded though or the deer will stay away just like any other situation, even though they can't see you. Great invention.
