Definitely after any shot but I think it is not a bad idea to touch them up weekly if carrying them in a quiver.

I sharpen before the season. I use a different arrow for each outing and once I have pulled them all from the quiver (4 to 6 arrows, depending on what quiver I am using), I touch them up on the diamond file and start over again. Can't be too sharp! Alot of folks don't realize how much taking a broadhead in and out of the quiver will dull it up. Last turkey season one of my friends had went the entire season without a touch up on his broadheads. After the season when he went to remove the b'heads, they were dull. Periodic touch ups are mandatory for me. Mike

Scary sharp before season.  Then touch them up every week or so just because...  I like to do it and I want them sharp as I can get them.

I couldn't vote because none of the answers fit. I sharpen all my arrows the night before the season opens. Three of them make it to my quiver, the rest go in my arrow case. My #1 arrow gets sharpened pretty often. Not every day but as needed. Definately after a rain if they've gotten wet. #2 & #3 arrow get less attention. Around here they never get used!

Usually only once during the season unless shot or dropped.  My arrow quiver has two points of contact on the shaft allowing the broad head blade to be  contact free of the hood.  I put vaseline on the blade for moisture control.

I give every one in my quiver a quick going over every night while in camp, just a light touch up with the steel is all.

Hunting small game like rabbits an such I leave them dull.
Winning or losing is not the important thing,,the important thing is how well you played the game.

Sharpen them all before the season and then occasionally sharpen the one I pull in and out of my Skookum One Arrow quiver on a regular basis.

I check every broadhead in my quiver before going into the woods regardless of if the arrow has been used or not, if this means I have to check them every night while around camp so be it.

Scarey sharp before the season opens and touch up before every hunt.

When they need it was not on your pole.  :)
