new dvd on footing wood arrows from 3 Rivers
« on: March 31, 2010, 02:31:00 PM »
FYI-
3rivers is now carrying a dvd that Colorado's own, Gary and Connie Renfro have produced on building footed wood arrows and feather splicing.
(Gary and Connie have had several articles published in past issues of Traditional Bowhunter Magazine)
It's called Building the footed arrow.
I just finished watching it, and I gotta tell you, I didn't have any experience doing something like this before I watched it, and now I feel like I could build them myself once I get the tools/jigs.

Hey I've got to get that DVD.   All my spliced feathers look like something my dog ate  that upset her stomach.

I've watched most of it so far.  It is REALLY LLLLLOOOONNNNGGGGG! (3 plus hrs), but it is packed with information, how-to's, and easy to follow instructions plus it is really well done too.  Gary and Connie know their stuff and it great to see someone put all of their knowledge of footing shafts on to a DVD.

A router table, tablesaw, and belt sander would be required. There is also some pretty heavy jig building so other tools are necassary. If you you are a hobbyist woodworker you should have all the tools needed.

I have that DVD also. I think the part where Connie splices feathers is worth the price of the DVD. I intend to make some of the jigs at school. Footed arrows have always looked so cool to me. I consider the DVD as one of the best DYI DVD's out there IMHO.

Has anyone been successful at building the jigs?
