« on: April 27, 2007, 03:12:00 PM »
Just wondering if anyone out there sells spined and wieghted Ramin sahfts anymore?  Before I got into woodies, I remember people mentioning a couple places, but I can't seem to find them.

Thanks...

Do a search for ramin, something will turn up. I have seen mention recently of someone who sells them. My understanding is that they are no longer imported into the U.S. because of environmental concerns in the country of origin, but there may be some old stock around.

Good luck!

Twig archery offers quaility ramin shafts at a fair price.  I ordered a dozen from him three years ago and still have all 12.  Very durable shaft, finished out at 700gr.  I killed three deer with the same arrow.  If  you have a trad. bowhunter mag. he is in the classifieds.

Any of the dowel makers will have them, but they have not been sorted, spined, matched ect... but you can get bulk shafts at a fraction of the cost if you have a means to spine and weight match them. Atlas Dowel had them the cheapest by far if I can remember, but stock will be running out fast. Ramin is a twin of Mahogany, but has always been sold as a bulk junk wood in the US. Because of this, vast forests of Ramin trees have been wiped out, and has since been put on a threatened species list, and will no longer be imported into the United States.
