Arrow Weight??

How do you determine "best" arrow weight for your bow? Not what shoots the fastest or hits the hardest, but what shoots the "best". Without buying a ton of arrows and conponents.

I like 9-10 gpp. It has worked well on everything from turkeys, to elk, and also moose.

If you properly tune the arrow, you can get speed or you can get what hits hardest,or a combination of both. You may have to take a little time getting to understand tuning methods. It is impossible to figure it all out on the first set of arrows

VA - do a search for Stu Miller's calculator - will get you running fast. You can play the what if game. H

Generally speaking whatever arrow you get that tunes great for you and your bow will be of an acceptable weight.

I shoot low poundage bows with long aluminum arrows since I have a 30" draw length. I use Stu Miller's DSC program and this is the best setup for each of my three bows. Just look at my signature below.

9 to 11 gpi. all can tune just fine but remember the heavier the gpi usually also generates dampers your bow. Good luck

I shoot a litlle over 13 GPI and about 14% FOC and it really makes a difference to me it seems like. After reading threads here I went to a heavier head and just ended up with it after getting everything tuned.

I generally shoot 10-12 grains per pound, the lighter stuff for targets, the heavier arrows for hunting.
