Kris,I use a very fine stone at that stage and lay it flat on the other side of the blade and slide it down the blade-one light stroke. Then one light stroke on the bevel.I go back and forth, one stroke each side of that burr till it comes off.Don't form a second bevel on the back, just lay the stone flat and slide it down the blade.
It is good to finish up by stropping on cardboard and you may actually have the edge to that point where the burr will come off by stropping.Corrugated cardboard, back of a legal pad, cereal box cardboard, all will work.Lay the bevel flat on the cardboard then lift the opposite side very slightly so that pressure wil be more to the edge of the bevel, not quite the entire bevel.Draw the edge across the cardboard one stroke. Then do the opposite side of the edge, the flat back of the edge, one stroke. When you do that side, you can just have the edge and ferrule down on the cardboard and draw it to you.Go back and forth, one stroke each side untill the burr is gone and you should have a wicked, honed edge.
It sounds like you are very close.
