Making your own calls?
« on: April 12, 2010, 08:35:00 AM »
Have you ever made your own turkey calls?  I have made a few wing bone calls but am thinking of getting the supplies to make a few pot calls in the future.  I also am going to make a tube call this week.  Have any of you ever bought the pot kits or supplies to make your own and how did the process work for you?

I've made a few.

Bought the slate and glass and turned the rest out on my wood lathe.

I've made a couple..no pictures. They are fun to make and not hard at all.
I think the most difficult part is when you glue the slate to the pot-making sure the glue line is nice and clean.

Go for it!

Make sure you use a flexible type glue like liguid nail for slate or something clear for glass otherwise it will crack when the temp from warm to cold or vice versa. I know from experience.

 Good luck

Look up custom call making on the internet and you will find lots of info on pot calls and placed to purchase kits.

one place in particular is Custom Sawing.
