Actual String length question??? Need some help!
«

I was wondering if someone could help me out on a string length.
I have a request for a string for the St. Jude’s action…it is going on the following bow.
1962 Bear Grizzly (longbow or Recurve)…I believe it’s a recurve but I’m not sure.
45# and is 62”
It measures 59” tip to tip unstrung.
If you need more info I can get it but I don’t have the bow…it is being refinished by Joe “Whip” Lasch and will be done hopefully when the auction is complete.
Thanks,
Josh

A 1962 Grizzly is a recurve it takes a standard string for an AMO 62 recurve.....I just measured one and it is 58".

Yes it takes a 58" string, not a standard AMO which would be 59".

AMO standards weren't adopted until Feb 1968 and state that a bow's length is determined by measuring the string that braces it correctly (measured under tension) and adding 3"
The string for '62 Grizzly
should
be in the neighborhood of 58" when measured under tension.
