Nock and point taper degree?

Thinking about trying my hand at building some wood shafts.I didn't know what degree the nock and point tapers should be?

Point 5 degrees

Point taper at 5 deg is easy enuf to understand, but I still can't figure how we came up with 11.5 deg for the nock taper. I'm thinking maybe it was reverse engineered.
