factory recommended brace heights?
« on: April 30, 2007, 06:39:00 PM »
Hello all, longtime lurker here, don't post too much, just being a sponge and soaking up the info. My question to those in the know is this:Does anyone know the factory brace height for a Bear Kodiak Magnum and a Browning Nomad II recurve? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you and I love this site!!!

My cousin had a Kodiak Magnum years ago. Seems like the factory brace height was quite high, like maybe 10 inches. He never braced it that high though. Are you making a string or just twisting up one that is already on the bow? I'd probably start as low as the string allows and work up until it gets quiet. Lower brace height will give you a bit more cast, but you will need to experiment to find the sweet spot where the bow is quiet and shoots where you point it. If you are making your string, make it 3.5 to 4 inches shorter than the AMO length of the bow (i.e.:48 to 48.5 inches for the 52 inch Kodiak).

Don't know anything about the Browning, sorry.
