The board is just a paramonor,and really only provides you with tapered ends in each bundle. Oh, and something to store away.
Really, though you need to find what lengths work for you, and keep notes and mark each peg acccordingly. Just like shooting a bow, you need to find the correct set-up, and go from there. Also, longbow, recurve, loop lengths, etc, ect, determine the outcome.
