Putting bands of scotch tape around the tubes every few inches improves the fit, which in turn quiets the rattle that you hear. I did this with Gold Tips and tubes, and it really helped.

You can pinch the tubes along their lengths at various spots to make them snug up and stop rattling. That's what I did when I tried them a few years ago, and it seemed to work just fine.

On some of the duplex shafts I've made, I wrap the inner one with a spiral of cotton sewing thread. It keeps it from buzzing, but I can still push it out if I want to make a change.

I shoot 1916 shafts just about all the time. I have thought about trying weight tubs in them to give them some extra weight. HAVE any of you ever tryed the weight tubs in anything but carbon.

I have tried everything to quiet tubes and they always have failed over time. They just loosten up inside and rattle. Maybe you can do all these things to set them but I also find that when they are tight that way, they really have an effect on spine. Maybe they don't allow standard expected flexing when the material can't slide. Then of course they look really wierd when the tube gets loose and makes the knock fly off and out they go in mid-air. It adds to some amusement on the range. I now go with weight inserts and heavier BH's.

I haven't tested weight tubes, but I can agree that on duplex shafts, making them a tight fit does increase the dynamic spine.

Ok boys after a bunch of tape 1 spool of thread and enough times in and out to make the knock fall out by it's self. What worked best was scotch tape every inch or so. It seems to have very little effect on spine. It's not a tight fit just enough to stop the tube from slaping around. I don't know if I will all 12 this way but it did work.

Yes, we have experienced that. I have gone to using weight up front to get my arrows into an acceptable weight range and once you get the right set up you are done with all the problems associated with weight tubes, not to mention the cost of them.

400 lb line around here we call that well rope.
I have set myself up for this prob. by being a tightwad. I like carbon shafts so I should just buy heavey shafts and be done with it.
