Upstate NY bow fishing
« on: May 08, 2010, 03:56:00 PM »
I would like to try bow fishing for the first time and  was hoping that there was someone in my neck of the woods (Saratoga Springs) with a good deal of experience and willing to show me some 'how to' tips.

Dozer,

I would love to go out with you. I have killed Thousands of carp but not with trad gear.  I am looking for a really cheap recurve for this season. The two I had in mind both sold moments before I was able to pick them up.

Here is the deal, I'm kinda new to the area and I dont know where to go around here so if you know of some areas, we can take my boat.

Also For tips or maybe a ride a londg check with Indianabowman.  Terry is a top notch guy and has a lot of experience. He lives about 45 minutes south of you.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

Sounds like a good plan to me. Send me a PM on the details and we'll set something up.

There was a bowfishing tournament at Saratoga Lake the past few years, so you know there's carp there. I heard the guy that ran it canceled for this year though. Also Lake Champlain is loaded with carp. Lots of gar too, but they don't let you NYer's shoot 'em.  :readit:   The very southern end, South Bay, is a prime area.
