Traditional Elk Video?
« on: May 08, 2010, 10:40:00 PM »
What is the best traditional elk hunting video that you guys and gals are aware of? I would like to find one to watch to see if I can pick up on some pointers before the elk season gets here. Thanks in advance.

The video from Cascade Archery's website has some on it, (Bowhuninting Reflections) but doesn't look much like "typical" call them in style of elk hunting.

I agree Jake with the Cascade video. There are only a couple I know, I will have to look up the title for the one by Stoney wolf. It has Brunner and Lapinski in it. Has some good footage and a couple kills if I remember right. Let me see if I can find it and I will get back toyou guys. Mabey someone else will know.

The DREAM HUNT with Paul Brunner is the only all traditional and best elk video out there.  I have it on DVD and VHS...will give the VHS to anyone that wants it for viewing.

I seem to think there is another with Mike Lapinski i have on VHS called Radical Elk Strategies.  Also, Point Blank Elk is by Mike Lapinski.  Larry Jones had one called Elk Memories.

All are traditional if I remember right....not sure if on DVD though...but I need to check.  :)

Yea, Larry D. Jones had one that was Trad-oriented, but I think there was one sequence where his son used a wheelie to take a bull...he held it at full draw for a while until the bull stepped into the shooting lane at about 5 yards....

The Stoney Wolf - Brunner/Lapinski is the only all traditional elk video that I am aware of...I haven't seen POINT BLANK ELK with Lapinski.

One of the Primos Truth vids has a recurve elk hunt. The archer connects on a called in bull. The bulls jumps the shot like a whitetail and he spined him.

If you want pointers I recommend "Elusive in the Wild".  It is hard to find.  Hasn't been produced for a few years.  It is done by 2 Colorado Elk Biologist and is the best info I have seen on everything from scouting to calling to field judging.  Covers all aspects of elk behavior and is very useful.  I review it every year before I go elk hunting.
