Manitoba Outfitter Recommendation
« on: May 21, 2010, 04:46:00 PM »
My buddy and I are looking for a reputable Black Bear Outfitter in M,itoba for next spring.  Any good recommendations?  We would like to have an opportunity to fish as well.

Many thanks in advance.

If you are looking for a fly-in to a remote lake, then you may want to consider McKenzie Outfitters. The owner's name is Monty and I went twice with him. I saw other hunters catch 29 inch walleyes and I caught a 46 inch norther pike, plus many others. We had bad weather in the spring. It was very cold, but I still saw bears. I went back in the fall and took this one. Mike

Hunted with Terry Neely, Benito Manitoba a few years back.  My one and only black bear hunt with a bow.  Saw two bears in the first 1 1/2 hours in stand.  One bear was a pure blonde that I passed on.  I thought the bear looked a little small.  I showed the video to another hunter from Kansas whom had hunted with Terry several times.  He told me it was the prettiest bear he had ever seen and couldn't believe I passed.  I shot the second bear that came to the bait a blackie.  Terry ran a pretty nice camp.  Food was good and acomodations very nice.  Five hunters in camp all took bears that week.

I plan to hunt with Ryan (stickflinger) next year. It's his first year outfitting on his own in an area he is familiar, but I'm not sure if he offers fishing. And like steadman says, he's a TG sponsor. Mike

I have hunted with Scott Smith & family in the Swan Lake area of Manitoba.  His allocations are in the Porcupine and Kettle Hills areas.  Scott is a traditional bowhunter and will put you right on top of bears.  I made a video for him a few years ago spending ten days in his camp.  We logged seeing more than 70 different bears in that time.

He has a great camp set up, all facilities are very well maintained and comfortable (my wife and sons 5&8 at the time loved it)and meals that are homecooked.  There is fishing availalbe too in the Porcupine Hills lakes areas with Scott.

His operation is called Canadian Wilderness Outfitters and you can link up to it through a net seasrch.  www.canadianwildernessoutfitters.com

You won't be dissapointed with Scott and his family ran operation.

Thanks guys.  I will check in with these outfitters.

My buddy and I went two years ago and our outfitter "snookered" us by overbooking us and placing us in an area (100 miles North of his normal area) he hadn'd fed until 2 days before we arrived.  6 of us went and only 3 of us saw bears (1 each) all week.  He also posted on his webpage the next year that 100% of his clients had shot opportunities at bears that year.

Thanks again.

I took this one as well as another the year before with Jerry Cook out of Grand Rapids Manitoba. Outland Outfitting is his business name.
I have had a great time both hunts and every body in camp got a bear. If you call Jerry don't be upset that he don't talk much he's just not much of a talker.

Hi...check out my site. I can also point to to other outfitters if you'd like. Try bear track outfitters or Adrenaline Outfitters....Ryan

I have never been, but when I do it will be with Ryan..Manitoba Stickflinger.  He has posted some really great pictures and stories of his hunts. He seams like the type of guy I would like to spend my money with. Never met him, not yet anyway. Best wishes to you Ryan.

I am sure there are several good outfitters in Manitoba.  I went with Bear Track Outfitters last spring, good people, good food, good hunting..
