Gotta wait till season comes in here in NC. Cant help you too much on where though just that I know it is a Mts (western NC) deal. Shouls be plenty of public land out there though I do not have my game lands book in front of me.
Check out NC's wildlfe website - lotsa a good info there.
Luck

The counties of Graham,Cherokee,Clay and Macon would be your best bet for public land hogs. The season opens somtime in the middle of Oct. Most people in the area use dogs to track and bay them up.

There are supposed to be feeral hogs in Caswell county. Someone told me of some feral hogs in Randolph Co. also. It is hard to find places to hunt them though. There are some in Johnston Co. You are supposed to be able to hunt the feral ones all year except on Sundays. LCH
