Mon River Bows???
« on: June 05, 2010, 07:27:00 PM »
Just got home from the Strictly sticks shoot and saw the Mon River Bows there.  I was really impressed with them, but didn't get to shoot one.  Does anyone own one or have you shot them?  Especially interested in the mongoose r/d longbow.  Thanks, Sam

I have a Mon River Possum Stick that I bought at Baltimore some years ago, but can't tell you much about them. I think they were hooked up with Alleghany Mountain Bows, but split off. I bought the Mon River from a selection of them on a table along with a selection of Alleghany Mountain bows, one of which my buddy bought at the same time. I just Googled them and found practically nothing.

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

I had a Mon-River Venom,56" 53# @ 28"  All Osage with a little glass added in for color(riser).A very cool bow,and only shot for me if I would go 3-under.Three years ago in the late archery season
I had a deer coming hard past me at 4 yds ,barely enough time to get an arrow out of my Catquiver.
Draw, swing, anchor and release. The arrow snapped  on impact and I watched her sidestep and topple over 60 yards away.I will remember that one to the very end. They are great bows.

This is the Venom that Craig is talking about. I acquired it and passed it along to a very deserving teenage son of mine. I really liked it and he loved it.He traded it a couple of months ago because he wanted to try something new.
