Widow TD question
« on: June 08, 2010, 01:12:00 PM »
I've only owned one-piece bows, but that new PCH has me thinking.

My question is specifically about the limb attachment system on take down Widows. Is it durable? Is there any variance in tightening or can it be over-tightened and damaged? Does it loosen up over time? What about water intrusion?

thanks for any help.

I have had my PSAII almost a year.  I have hunted it in a few downpours and twice last year on bear hunts spent three day trips in constant misting rain for he entire time.  I put a bit of the widow wax on the pins and in the hole and on the o rings, but I can't think of a better system.

I got a widow because of their unquestioned durability.  I have probably unstring my bow less than 10 times and most of those were for travel.  It is solid as all get out.

I would say meteors or a mars based attack are as likely as damage to a widow...

Those PCH pics I keep seeing are beauties.  I need to shoot one one of these days.
Give me a bow a topo and two weeks, and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

Bomb proof. Over the years I have owned an SAIII and now a PCH. They are both tight as a drum in the attachment system. I suppose if you really muscled it you could do some damage but it would need to be extreme, I think. Do use some Widow Wax or Butcher's Wax all over just for insurance if you're going to be in a downpour for any length of time--this is that BW suggests.
