At our conservation club 3D shoots open to all but the normal is 2 trad shooters to every wheel shooter. Set stakes for every class. Half the trad shooters shoot from compound stakes.

Cyclic-Rivers, I think you need to be more open-minded and embrace the soft bigotry that is traditional archery (I hope everyone could hear the irony in my text).

Just My Opinion, of Course, Traditional is  JUST  what the Word Implies,  TRADITIONAL Only. Stick, String, and Wooden Arrows. Of course there has to be a Bend in the Strictness of the Rules, but  ONLY  to a Point. The Wheels  AND  RangeFinders are  NOT  EVEN CLOSE!!!
I Fully Agree, Its  ALL  Our Beloved Sport of Archery. Just Throw a High Powered Rifle Hunter into a "Black Powder Rendezvous", and I betcha a Dollar to a Donut, he wont hang long. Do y'all see what I mean??   :readit:
We  ALL  Love Archery, Or BlackPowder, or whatever, there are just  Different   Definitions  as to the Participants in Certain Competitions. I am  NOT  trying to Discount Anyone here, but as was spoken Before, there has to be a "Bit of a Line Drawn in the Sand", and  THAT  should be  KNOWN  Up Front and Adhered to! "Unless the Club Needs the Money", sad to say its a Fact of  ALL  Small Clubs.
The Small Club I belonged to had  EVERYONE   WELCOME!! on the Sign Out Front!  Just different Shooting Stakes for the Different Folks to Shoot From. And We  ALL  got Along.
AGAIN , It was  STATED  At The Gate  "EVERYONE WELCOME!!"  So No Complaints from anyone being Excluded.
If it were Listed as a  COMPOUNDS ONLY  Shoot, I wouldnt have considered going, but thats  ME . Cant say I Ever Heard of a "Traditional Compound", but hey, ya just never know!!  THEY  Made The  RULES CLEAR when they advertised it as a "Traditional Shoot", I Think. Maybe This Club  WASNT  Clear or Didnt Have The Hair to Stand  TO  Those Rules.  OR  didnt have the Turnout to make it Profitable for the Club. Either Way, They Should Have Notified that it had Changed to a  "Shoot What Ya Got"  Shoot...... Because......Whatever the reason.
Ok, I will shut up now.   :goldtooth:

I went to this shoot with Rodd. All 5 of us that went were fired up for it, until we arrived and registered. We were asked if were shooting traditional or compound? I was like what? I didn't say anything at that moment, a little confused. I went over to their add on the board and, yes, it says Traditional shoot, so why were compounds there? Their words were.... a buck is a buck??? A very small attendance to boot, only one vendor present. Nice club, great course and good people but was bummed with the way it was advertised as a traditional shoot....

I go to a few shoots each year. Most times I'm not that impressed with the course or how its set up. I go , have a good time and make the best of it. I have become more fond of getting a couple of guys and going to stump shoot. Seems to be as good as practice as one can get and most times more fun.I'm going Sunday to a 3/D, I'll watch the guys with the field glasses and their chairs that they carry and the bow holding tripods and just hope they let our group shoot thru........... I'll have fun and eat a cheese burger at the end,may keep score may not. Just try to have fun at this game and try not to be disappointed when thing are not what they seem!

I'm not trying to ruffle feathers or stand on a pedestal!  Nor am I saying pumpkin cannons should be allowed at an air rifle competition.  I wasn't at the shoot and I may have been confused as well.

If I was there Joe, I would have been thinking and feeling the same thing as you. You know, you and I think similarly I still own your old bow and bought another due to your "perfect one".   :knothead:

On a serious note, Joe, I'll never love another bow!   :bigsmyl:

From a person that has shot both wheels and now taditional. The union of the 2 need to be held together for the sake of the sport. To continue our allegiance aganst the PETA pushers and all the polaticians who would rather see the stick and strings used as firewood.

  That being said.
Trad shootes enjoy shooting at trad only shoots. They don't like standing around waiting for the next 4 groups to finish the next target. The wheely guys bring there stools and sit around passing the time talking. Most don't even offer to let the trads shoot through.
Look at it like this. if you put tennis players and baseball player on the same court. Not too many tennis balls would be left on the court, and too many tennis rackets would have bad strings from the baseballs being hit by them
Let The Lord guide you ways.

I have no problem shooting with with folks that shoot a different b ow than I, they can shoot what they want, doesn't bother me one bit! My problem was they way the club advertised the shoot as a Traditional Shoot on their flyer! I was expecting something different! We go to a lot of different type shoots, open and trad shoots, they are all fun!

I hear ya Joe. That would have disturbed me a little too.  Hope you enjoyed the lemonade from all the lemons they gave you guys!

It's like going to the store because a flier advertised Beer 1/2 off. When you get to the register they say Changed our minds, it's now only 5% off take it or leave it. Oh and sorry you drove all this way!    "[dntthnk]"

I was one of the five that went to the shoot and yes it was disappointing cuz it was listed as a TRAD Shoot but allowed wheels and other things. we still had a great time, even though i got stung 5xs by BLACK WASPS and had to jump in the creek. LOL  and by the way i have nothing against the wheels, but then it should have been listed as an OPEN SHOOT, and since we been there before for one of there OPEN Shoots we could have gone someplace else.

My wife and I along with two good friends attended this shoot and, infact, have gone to it in past years.   We all agreed that it probably will now be the last time that we attend this particlular shoot.  Like most clubs in the area, ours included, this club is mostly comprised of compound shooters, with just a handful number of Traditionalist.

Like Rodd said, it was advertised as a Traditional shoot, but in reality, was an open shoot.   The set-up was horrible for the typical traditional shooter (most likely set-up by a compound shooter who does not understand our style!!).  The majority of the shots were too long for the appropriate size target,  had you shooting through brush, and in alot of cases there was no limb clearance for your bow.

When asked how the shoot was when we finished, we told them the truth.  Hopefully it didn't offend them as we have known many of their members for quite a few years.  I have no qualms about shooting with compounders, but when you advertise a shoot as a TRADITIONAL SHOOT, keep it traditional only!  $$$ or not, we do at our club.
