Beman MFX Question
« on: June 14, 2010, 09:48:00 PM »
I have some Beman MFX Classics & I was wondering if you can get feild points heavier than 150 grains?
I can't find any & would like to get rid of the weight tubes & put the weight up front.

I thought they came with the 75 grain "HIT" inserts already? Mine have them installed I'm pretty sure. I should mention I would like finished weight to be around 700 grains.

Though larger in diameter than the MFX shafts the threads on all screw in field pts. up to and including 300 grains work. Another option is to use more than one insert. I glue a pair of 100 gr. brass inserts in and with the 145 gr. field point with the same diameter as the MFX shafting I have 345 grs. total up front. MFX 500s 30 1/2" long bare shaft then paper tune out of my 54 lbs. at my 29" draw Toelke Whip like bullets. With three 5" parabolics they end up 655 grs. total.

Wesley,

I shoot the MFX 400's and use 100 gr. brass inserts, 75, 100 & 125 grain steel BH adaptors with 190 and 200 grain Grizzly's, so 300 to 400 grains up front easily, depending on which combination I use, etc.  Look to 3 Rivers and Kustom King, there are heavier field points offered from both companies.  You shouldn't have any problem reaching your 700 grain benchmark.  There are endless possibilities for what you want to accomplish.  I might add that I hot glue my inserts into the shafts, so I have the flexibility to change them up for tuning purposes.

Good luck!

Kris
