That is a '59 Grizzly alright. Tips are Micarta which is characteristic of the year.

Sorry Kenny, but I have a 1959 48# Grizzly that is suffering because it's been separated from its twin.  I think it needs to be sent here.

Nice bow!  If it's like the 48# I have at home you have "found" a great bow.

Thanks for the info, Bjorn.

I have heard that a 1960 model looks almost identical. but the handle may be different? Do you know anything about that?

Kenny,

I can't tell if the handle is the same as your 69, but it does have paper micarta tips.

The 1960 has Fiberglass tips-that is the most distinguishable difference. The 1960 usually has fewer lay ups in the lower part of the riser resulting in one 'chevron' vs two in the 1959.
The 1959 Grizzly is a great shooting bow-remarkably smooth and quiet.

Was this in your attic and you didn't know it?  Be careful of attic bows as they don't do well in high heat for lots of years.

It was in the attic over my garage. It's ventilated well, and doesn't get too hot. I put the bow away there 20 years ago, and forgot about it until I saw the bows Steve at Tradways had at Comptons. I didn't think it was worth anything because it has a few vertical expansion cracks in the glass. It didn't look as bad as I remembered, when I found it this morning.

Just interesting to know that it is a 1959 model.

This thread inspired me to get out my '59 for some shooting today.  I had been spending the past month + shooting the 1960 Grizzly getting it ready for it's 50th anniversary deer season.

However, the '59 shoots so smoothly, is so quiet, and accurate that it's going to be real tough to shelve it this fall...

The 59' is always on the left.  The 60' on the right.
