Tested a crick-it today on my longbow
« on: June 22, 2010, 05:46:00 PM »
Hi!
I mounted a crick-it bought from 3 rivers on my Firefly 65# today, and wow what a difference in my shooting
Took the bow out to my 3D range and tested it the hard way with up hill and down hill shots.

I did find out that I sometimes "cheat" on this shots with my drawlength(+- 30.5)it suddenly gets shorter

To my surprise I really did have some struggling with holding the bow and push-pull it to my usual drawlength when I was heavy up hill, but after a couple of rounds I finally found the technique to do it with this helpful tool, and my arrows suddenly connected more than usual on the spots I was looking.

I would like to recommend this "tool" to all other tradgangers who need to do some finish on the form and consistent drawlength  :archer:

By the way have anybody some experience about animals react on the clicking noise before the release?

i have a clicker on every bow i own. throw the chain away and replace it with release rope material....a lil soft velcro on the spring steel and the animals dont have time to react. never had a problem with them spooking.

glad its working for you!!

Congrats, Margly!

Quite the eye-opener, eh?

My clicker taught me over and
over that even though I was at
anchor, it didn't mean I was
necessarily at full draw.

Wish I could tell you from experience the
effect of the click on critters, been a bit
sparse here in the action department in
my neck of the woods.

Go kill something tasty   :D

I have one that I've never put on my bow because I couldn't figure out how..lol

It was a gift from a sister of the bow and I am truly grateful to her.

I am hoping that someone at this weekends UMB Rendezvous will help me install it one of my bows.

Now which one shall it be? ("Vango"or Tembo?)

Decisions, decisions... oh my!

God bless,Mudd

I did install it on my longbow on the top limb ca 8" from the riser. I`m not sure if it is correct but it is functional for me  :D

And yes a really eye-opener for me as well. Fulldraw is now fulldraw

I had a bad habit of premature release but today it was gone  :)

I just put one on my takedown widow recurve, very nice results.

I mounted mine on the area of the riser just before the cut away for the limb.

I haven't tinkered with the noise.  My biggest cncern is this little gadgets durability.  I have Alaska coming up.

I know for a fact another month with this will really help me even if I take it off before the season, but would rather leave it if I can.
Give me a bow a topo and two weeks, and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

I have been shooting clickers for almost 20 years now...(man I'm getting old). I have never had a problem with deer spooking from them. Last fall I had a small forky about 4 yards from my treestand. I used it as a test and drew through the clicker 6 or 8 times and he never even acted the least bit alarmed.

Mudd, do a search on the shooter's forum. Lot's of good stuff there about clicker set-up.

I've been reading alot of old posts about clickers and I think I'm ready to give one a try. I would just like the ability to completely control my shot especially when shooting at live animals. Thanks Allan for all your old posts on the clickers. You really answered alot of the questions I had.

Quiet it down as stated- felt and string instead of chain.  It has made a BIG difference for me.  It really helps on cold days to reassure full draw as well as throughout the season when I am not shooting as much. It has made me very consistent. I love it.

You guys who don't know how to mount and use them will find Jason Wesbrock's article in the new TBM (got mine yesterday) most helpful.  I use clickers on several of my bows but not all--I want to continue to work on my form without one whenever I can. Definitely follow his advise on modifying the clicker chain set-up.  I have been doing exactly as he does for years....Dave

I will certainly follow the tip about throwing the chain away and replace it with release rope material.
The chain has unfortunately made some marks on my limb-finish  :banghead:
