My single feather fulllength spiral flu-fl;u will travel about 55-60 yds in a 50# bow at 28". The 6 fletch on the same bow about 80-85 yds. (all at 45 degrees)
I glue the feathers using a black heavy duty paper clip (about 1" across) Trim both edge of a 10-11" feather (if you can find one anymore!)
Glue the upper end about 3/4" and clamp on about 1" dow the nock. Then add glue to all but 3/4" of the rest of the feather. Spiral down in rotation with the natural bend of the feather(left is opposite right wing) The trick is to hold that last bit of feather carefully while adding the last bit of glue. Pinch down and carefluuy put on the last clamp. Should be dried hard in about 2 hours (I use DUCO) Then trim the tips to a bevel and tape off both ends with a round of the colored electrcial type tape that is thinner than normal (about 1/3" wide)
Arrows look great and hold up well.
They will fly just about as fast as 6 fletch for the first 15 yards before they reallt start to slow.
PM if you would like to see a photo of an example. I can email photos but never have figured out how to post a pic - that is why no avatar!!! PC dinosaur and ancient archer!
