Shipping arrows, need ideas
«
on:
June 27, 2010, 10:31:00 AM »
I just finished building a couple dozen arrows for a friend in Canada and need to send them tomorrow. I'm looking at the cardboard boxes that arrows usually come in and I'm not sure I trust these arrows to be shipped in them. Am I just paranoid? Is there a better way to ship or are the boxes just fine? Thanks.

If your worried about the boxes try PVC pipe. Might be more for shipping though. Good luck.

I've always rec'd arrows in good shape in the cardboard arrows boxes. The MTM arrow box would sure protect them!

USPS has Priority Mail 38" triangular tubes that are stronger than arrow boxes. We use them for most of our shafting shipments, but also use the arrow boxes for our arrows and have never had a problem with those either. Like you, I'm not sure I'd want to use an arrow box for international.

I usually use the priority mail tubes for my arrow shipping. Six arrows up and six arrows down with a little bit of crumpled newspaper top and bottom fits just fine.
They aren't as pretty as an arrow box and all the arrows layed out with dividers but they work great and are a lot less expensive.

I would use the cardboard cylinder type or the PVC pipe(you can get the lighter weight tube).I have mailed them in the usual arrow boxes that they are purchased in,But I take cardboard and wrap the box in it and tape it up for support. Then they ship fine.

I've shipped arrows all over the world in those cardboard arrow boxes and they all made it where they were going. I would put news paper on the inside ends.

Vinyl rain gutters work great for arrows and some bows.

The best way is to put them in your truck and drive them up for delivery and a visit! haha

I've used the PVC tubes also in the past, cut a bit over lenght and then put some soft foam in the ends, a little heavy but works great.

I have used the free triangular boxes from the PO a lot. Arrows are tough and made to take a pile of abuse-those boxes are perfect.

Buy SDR 35 PVC (it's green instead of white), it's much thinner walled than the SCH 40 stuff and costs less to ship.
