confused about arrow wieght
« on: June 27, 2010, 12:53:00 PM »
I just got a new catalog the other day. Using the arrow guide I could use Trad Only 400 my BH weight 165 with an arrow length of 28". Using this method it gives me an arrow weight under 8 gr per pound of draw with my 58 lb bow. If I shot a widow would this void their warranty. Don't widow bows require at least 8gr per pound. If this correct what method should you use. The reason for this is that I just broke a limb on my Schafer and don't want a repeat. My current arrow setup fly well but is below the 8gr per pound.

By my calculations if you have a 27" draw weight and you had cap wraps with feathers and nock it would bring the total arrow weight up to About 452 grains and an estimated poundage of 55 brings you up above the 8GPP.  Don't forget to figure the weight on the back end.

If you're using a fast flight string, go with the Heritage 150 from Carbon Express. With a 28" arrow, wrap, nock, insert, fletching and 200 grain point will give you 9+ grains per pound.

You can also go with the 250's at 29 1/2" and 200 grain point. That will boost your arrow weight up to 585 grains.

Get some weight tubes from 3R when you order.  They come in 3,5, or 8 gpi.  I have some 3's coming tommorrow along with some other goodies.
