Was shooting a round at the local archery club with a game warden friend of mine last weekend. He was shooting a Hoyt compound and I was shooting an old Ben Pearson Cougar recurve that I've been playing around with. He walked up to the compound shooting stake and ranged the broadside bull caribou target with his range finder (not a competition shoot so no scores kept or anything). The caribou was across a neat little gorge and 34 1/2 yards away. He drew his bow, settled his pin, released...AND MISSED THE TARGET COMPLETELY! He had simply used the wrong pin by mistake, no big deal.
So then I decided to shoot from his stake, just for fun. I figured I would at least hit the dang thing and make him look bad. Not only did I hit it, but my cedar arrow sailed across that gorge and landed dead center of the twelve ring. LOL!
Moral of the story is...yeah it sure feels good to out shoot a wheelie bow.
