Opening nocks

Sorry for all the posts, not just bored but doing serious tuning (I hope).

What is the best way to open my arrow nocks, heat or a file?  I have been slowling (not that slowly) cutting my servings and I expect the snap off upon release is causing noise so I want to make my nocks just barely fit.

replace them with something that has a wider throat (or re-serve your string).  You can sand them - lots of folks do.

I just dip them in a pot of hot water on the stove and then use whatever is handy to open the gap a little.  Find something that is about the thickness of the string you are using.  I have a key that works great - just the right thickness.

I use 220grit sandpaper fold it and sand a little at a time.

Use a finger nail file,I glue two back to back for wide jobs and a single for the little jobs!!

grab you wifes nail file, or yours if you want to admit it.  Just rub a little then place on string, if not enough, repeat.  Just remember to do a little at a time so you don't remove to much at once.  I like the thicker spongy ones.

l put a drill bit in my dremel. It works like an end mill.  I can open up the size, and still keep the bot. of the nock radiused.
