Personally, I like heavier poundage bows in the 60# - 65# range, but these other guys are right. Many animals have been killed with lighter pulls. Still, I would recommend 50# to 55#, but only if you can handle it without difficulty. However, if you are better with the light poundage and feel more confident in your ability to hit the mark with it, then by all means go for the light pull. If you stick him in the right spot with a well tuned rig and sharp broadhead, 40# will do the job just fine.
