anyone make or have an idea for making a simple homemade clicker?

I think I've found something that works for me to make sure I'm reaching a full 28" draw.

I have measured off at least two dozen at 28" and marked that with a ring drawn on the shaft with a black permanent marker.

I can see easily when I've reached my mark. I also practice drawing in the house by putting a clothespin on at my mark then drawing back with my eyes closed.

I have found that it didn't take long with these two methods and my draw and anchor were becoming more consistent.

The end result is that my arrows are hitting my intended target more consistently.

I have used a broken metal tape measure. Use a narrow one and  just cut off an inch or so, make you a little bracket and tape it on the bow. Drill a hole through the piece of tape measure for the string before you mount it. Pretty simple. Just play around with it some.

I just made one with a toy clicker.  drilled a hole in the top and tied a string to the clicker and taped it on my longbow.

Works great.  Only did this because I wanted to try one this weekend and the local archer shop didn't have one.

I can't answer your question about making a cricket-style clicker.

I come to anchor (index finger at the corner of the mouth). Then I extend the drawing arm elbow rearward with my back muscles -- this sort of pulls my finger firmly into my anchor -- finishes off the anchor with about 1/2" extra draw and makes sure I keep the drawing side active. Keeping the bow arm active is just as important. The bow should move towards the target at release, to the side and down.

If you can set your arrows up to touch your nose you can use this as a clicker. Just fletch your arrow up so when you reach your anchor that your feather is a quarter inch or less from your nose and as you apply back tension it should come back and when it touches your nose let it go. It makes if very difficult to anticipate the shot like this and is legal in all shoots. Good luck.

I have a friend that uses a Snapple bottle cap, the kind where the button pops up if the seal has been broken.  Don't know exactly how it was done, but it works.

what cch said.
i anchor then keep pulling till the feathers touches my lip. when that happens the arrow is gone. like all draw checks, you need to use it as a tool to gain a suprise release.
