So a friend of mine who builds some great bows was having a moving sale a few years back and on a picnic table was a pile of old busted up bows and this one half completed 64" longbow with dried glue all over it. The auctioneer ended up selling the table for $12.50 per item. I saw that the bow looked rather stout so I bought it.
The riser is Purple Heart and the limbs elm. I never made a bow before so I just began sanding and rounding the edges and shaping the grip to what felt good to me. This process has taken over a year.
So, I started shooting the bow and it shoots great! Now I'm looking at my beautiful custom bows and not wanting to use them. So I'm carrying around this ugly bow and shooting darts with it. It ended up being a smooth pulling 75#@27" and I love it.
Be careful what find out there, you might like it!
