SKIN -EEZ?
« on: May 10, 2007, 05:55:00 PM »
has anybody used them? I just buggered up a real copper head skin trying to put them on my limbs. every thing worked great until I put the tape on to remove the scales and then I tore the skin when I peeled the tape off. Now I have a bow with sanded limbs and no snake skins. I need to put some thing on them and wondered about the skin eez. do they look cheezy?

I didn't get a chance to try them because I asked for some samples to look at and to show my local archery pro shop and was told they would be mailed. Never showed up. Asked again and was told they would be shipped out. Never received them. E-mailed for info about using them for bowfishing and promoting them at the Great Lakes Bowfishing Champoinship and never got a reply. They must be great and don't need any more business.

I have some copperhead skin-eze on a morrison.  They were really easy to apply.  I did get some wrinkling were I had a strap on quiver.  I was able to flatten them back out, then I sprayed poly over them.  Now they are more durable and I think they look better with the slight yellowing from the poly.

Before Poly

After Poly (next to some real timber rattlers done by Bob Morrison)

Made some arrow cresting with the leftovers

hey Buff.  I started a thread for Skin-Ezz some time back.  It has some good examples of the them and some opinions on the skin-ezz.

Go to this link and see for yourself.

They are pretty sharp and easy to apply.I got the newer ball python skins on my longbow and theyve proven to be pretty rugged.

While I think they look nice from far and a little chessy close up, they allow me to take white, Ben Pearson Pinto into the woods and hunt.  I think it is well worth it for that reason alone.

I have done 2 sets, if you put on some 'matte' spray over the shiny vinyl they look pretty good. The material itself is easily removed (if ya' change your mind) and it does not impede performance like the real thing does. I have yet to have anyone come over and say "Hey Bjorn your bow looks cheezy" but perhaps I just hang out with a polite bunch of guys! LOL!!

Joihn Scifres made me a selfbow and used the Skin-eez copperheads.  Here are some pics:

I used their "water snake" pattern on a short limbed Acadian Woods Tree Stick to go on a Spring turkey hunt because the limbs are light hickory.
There was an earlier thread here on ways to put the decals on limbs with soapy water--that's the way to do them.  Went on easy, made an impressive camo look, and are holding up fine.  I did spray them with a couple coats of satin poly.
For about $30.00, they are a great deal.  Definitely NOT real snake, but hard to beat for the money.
I'm only as good as my first shot.
