ACS CX 49# Arrow Question
« on: July 21, 2010, 11:08:00 AM »
I am getting ready for deer season and am building some heavier arrows for hunting for my ACS CX 49# at 28" I draw 28-28.5" I have some Beman ICS Hunters .400 spine and I am going to shoot 260 grain Abowyer brown bear heads so with am insert will be like 270 up front I have never shot that much just wondering if anyone had an idea of what arrow length I would be looking at I pulled up STU's and it is way off I know its showing the bow at something like 70 and the arrow at 36 being cut at 30" any input would be great guys thanks as always.

I would think you are going to be over spined even full length. I am shooting a Beman MFX 500 30 3/4" throat of nock to back of point, fletched with three 5" parabolics and a 100 grain and a 75 grain brass insert glued back to back with a 145 grain field point out of a 62" Toelke Whip 54 lbs. at my 29" draw. They bare shaft then paper tune and fly beautifully. My experience has been that carbons are much stiffer than any calculator or manufacturer's chart indicates.

I'm shooting 400 ICS Hunters out of my 50# @ 28"
ACS CX. Arrows are cut to 30.5" with 200 grain points and my draw length is 29.5". Remember your ACS is cut a fair amount past center so you might need to play around with side plate thickness too. Actually, with a little playing around, I'm able to get 400's, 340's and 300's to fly good  out of  my bow (fletched).

The ACS is so adjustable it took me a while to get used to. As Oscar said by changing side plate thickness you can shoot all kinds of arrow spines. Gary
