New Chek-Mate "Longbow"
« on: July 31, 2010, 12:37:00 PM »
I just got a couple of the new "Beaver Creek" longbows in.  Both 58", one 45@28, the other 46@28.  I plan on having them with me at the AL State Traditional Championship next weekend.  Seems that the reviews on them so far are excellent.

I won't be set up as a vendor, but I'll be easy to find if anyone wants to try one out.

Introductory price...$450.  That includes yew limbs, black or clear glass, custom string, strike plate/rug rest, silencers, nock set, bow care and set-up info., and warranty.  Shipping is extra, and any applicable taxes.

Those two are available now.  Both are 58", both have Pacific yew limbs.  The black glass one is 45@28, with a greybark/purpleheart riser.  The clear glass one is 46@28, with a bubinga/Bolivan rosewood riser.

Marc's wife has trained on these, and helps him with them (glue-up and such), so hopefully the wait on them will be short.  I hope to get a few more in soon.

I love the graybark/purpleheart as well... would love to see how that combo matched up with clear glass and the yew.

A good friend of mine came over yesterday and tried one out.  He's one of the better shooters, and THE best hunter I know.  He's also super-picky about bows, especially longbows.

After a few shots, he couldn't put it down.  He was all grins, and stacking arrows in the kills on the various targets I have behind my shop.

I haven't shot it yet--58" is a tad short for my draw (30+"), but I plan to shoot a 60" when I get it.
