Magnus Stingers vers. Buzz-Cuts

Need to switch from 100grs. to 125grs. broadheads this year and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the Buzz-Cuts? Better blood trails? I can get any broadhead VERY sharp and swear by Magnus but can't decide between the two.

i like the buzz cutts better. I think they give a better blood trail over the stingers but thats just my 2cents

I havent tried the buzz-cuts but I have had great luck with the 125 and 150 4-blade stingers. Great penetration and blood trails

I love the Magnus Stinger two blades but have never tried the buzzcuts.  Just a personnal preference but I'm not a big fan of the serrated edge broadhead because I think it's a little more humane to to use a head that cuts rather than tears.  However it does stand to reason that a jagged wound would not close up as quickly and bleed more.  

Just a preference thing with me on the serrated issue.

This question was asked on one of the wheelie bow forums awhile back. Woody Sanford from Magnus answered that the serrations in the Buzzcuts were there for people who couldn't get the regular Stingers as sharp as they should be...

My 02?... Get the Stingers and get them "tuned".

Stinger touched up w/ a KME sharpener....scary wounds GUARANTEED!  Couldn't ask for a better combo.

Not sure about the BuzzCuts but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Stingers. Flat out awesome head. Tough as nails. Mine have been shot into the dirt and rocks and everything else. No damage. One of the most overlooked heads on the market. Can't beat that lifetime garuntee either!

Stingers all the way. Much easier to sharpen than the serrations inside the buzz cuts. I pull the new heads out of the box, run them over a 16" bastard file a few very light swipes with my KME then onto the stones. Shazammmmm Sharp!

I have used them both for several years. I like the 150gr. Found some 150gr. two blade buzz cuts this last year and used them. Wish they made them ever bigger, 200-250gr. I do think the buzz cut makes a little bigger wound. I haven't had any trouble sharpening either. I used a 100gr. brass insert and the 150gr. two blade buzz cut for a total 250gr. up front this last year and they were superb.

I used the 150 grain smooth edge last year with 50 grain brass insert.Shot from CX 250 Heritage.Its good medicine no doubt.I have never shot the buzzcuts.I am sure either way you got a deadly head on your arrow.

That wasn't my quote. That was straight from Woody Sanford who works for Magnus. He's heavilly involved with thier product R&D and he's also the primary representitive for Magnus on the internet forums.

The serrations are different then those on a knife that are best used sawing. They are a square U shape so don't need to be worked back and forth to be effective. Woody explains it much better then I did.

Ron... I know it wasn't you that said that. I think this Woody guy has done a lot of good for Magnus. I just don't buy his statement....though I'm sure it sells broadheads.

Ditto. That being said, I did pick up a pack of Buzzcuts and they will be in my quiver for an elk hunt this year.

I like the 150grn two blade Stinger, little harder to find then the 125grn.
