ILF limb question
« on: August 03, 2010, 12:24:00 AM »
What is the difference if any in the TT Black Max Carbons and the Samick Universal Carbon/Wood limbs other than apperance and price?

Price and appearance ARE differences! I went for the Blackmax, since ILF risers vary so much, black kind of goes with all woods, but the wood veneers do not look great with all the riser woods.

Unless there is a slight difference in the carbon, I'd say nothing but the appearance.  I have shot the Black Max Carbons, they are a hard limb to beat.  If you aren't concerned about the looks of the limbs for shooting or hunting, then try the Universals.

Just looked at something also, the Universals only go up to 42#, you will gain a bit going to a shorter riser, but if you are looking at going heavier for hunting, then you may want the Black Max.

I'm not sure but I believe the black max are made in Korea by Samick and the universals in China if that makes a difference.

Black Max, hands down! I have a TT Titan riser, black Max Short #40 limbs pulling #45 cranked all the way down. Dead quiet, smooth all the way to a buddys 30 inch draw, fast and dead in the hand. I had the universals, not nearly as smooth. These limbs are made to specific specs., and shoot like other limbs costing twice as much. A lot of differnce between BM carbon and BM glass limbs also. Maxwell is right, Carbons are made in Korea, universals in china.

IIRC, the BlackMax carbons are Samick Universal/Privilege carbon limbs with black glass rather than the silver finish with decals.  Nothing a can of flat black Krylon can't take care of.  :^)
