Tuning arrow
« on: August 05, 2010, 06:39:00 PM »
Can someone give some advise about tuning from the attached photos? Remeber I shoot LEFT HAND

Arrows are Heritage 150 28" long with 50 grain brass inserts and 125 grain point.

The first bow is a 62" recurve 52# @28 But I only pull 27"

15 yds.
2 bare shafts 3 fletched with 5 in feathers

20 yds 2 bare shafts 3 fletched with 5 in feathers

Since I am left hand does this show the shafts are to stiff?

Same arrows from 60" recurve 56# @28"
The arrows seem to hit straighter with this bow but are nock high no matter how high or low I move the nocking point.

15 yds.

20 yds.

get a styrofoam target, bag targets give false readings for tuning.imo

Pic 1 and 2 overspined. Pic 3, 15 yds is too close to see what is going on and Pic 4 good to go; IMO. Also in my opinion shooting at 20 yards the arrow point of impact is more important than the lean of the arrow. IMO shoot the arrows into whatever you have.
Nock high at 20 yds. is fime (for me). Are you holding the bow vertical for the bareshafts?

There is a B'shaft tuning section on the A&H archery site-very helpful.
