Classic Bear Bows for long draw length
« on: August 06, 2010, 10:24:00 AM »
I've been wanting to buy a older Bear bow, really like the looks of the Super Kodiaks. I was wondering what models would work well with a 31" draw length?

My draw length is 30 1/2" and I shoot both 60 and 64" Super K's. The longer ones are a bit smoother, but not a great difference. The 64"ers are getting harder to find, and were only made up to 1970 or 71.

4 point i saw a really nice looking bear super kodiak for sale. 60" 40# 28" draw. there is only 21 hrs. left to buy it. it's a 1973 model. if i had the money i would try to buy it. i'm just guessing but it would probaly be pulling 50# lbs. plus. you may want to the guys here. send me a private message it you want more details.

Don't over look the Kodiak Hunters. Nice looking and shooting bows. I have a 1968 KH 50# @ 28", and I draw 30", no issues.

I draw 31" also...I can shoot the 60" kodiaks but the 64" is definitely smoother. My favorite setup on my Bear takedown is a B riser with # 2 limbs...making a 62" bow. This feels ideal to me.

When I got my 60" kodiaks I recall that there was minimum crazing in the finish on the limbs...a few months with me shooting them and  crazing was much more noticeable. If you want a one piece bow I say look for a 64" Super K.

Thanks guys, I've never seen a Super Kodiak in a 64" length. That sounds like just what I am looking for. Now if I can just get lucky and find someone willing to part with one.
